Fable: The Journey represents Microsoft ‘s latest – and likely final – attempt to prove that Kinect , in its current incarnation, is a viable control interface for more than just dance simulators and mini-game collections. Developed by Lionhead Studios , with the now departed Peter Molyneux serving as Creative Consultant, The Journey puts players on a guided, first-person tour of Albion which, thanks to the power of Unreal Engine, has never looked better. But does the game play as good as it looks? Read on for our full review of Fable: The Journ
Besides the games Nintendo has already announced for E3, fans should be able to expect some surprise game announcements, in addition to new looks at previously revealed Switch titles like Yoshi and maybe even Metroid Prime
The game itself roughly breaks down into two primary modes of play: driving sequences and combat sequences. Gabriel and Theresa travel the lands of Albion in a horse-drawn buggy, with frequent stops during which Gabriel must use his newly acquired magical gauntlets to dispatch wave after wave of threatening foes. Rest stops, where Gabriel can tend to Seren, help break up the experie
Tokyo Game Show 2019 is starting right now at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, going from September 12 to 15. Most publishers revealed their definitive schedules these past few days, outlining the various streams and stage events happen
With Super Mario World taking Nintendo’s moustachioed mascot into a new era of platforming, the developers decided that he was in need of a new companion. Specifically, an animal that Mario could not only ride, but one that could assist him in com
It’s hard to pick a single creature from the Pokémon universe as greater than any other; since the games have seen no fewer than hundreds of the creatures pass through their midst. But even if every player who spends time simulating the career of an amateur Pokémon Trainer has their favorites, one has come to represent the franchise as wh
When it comes to Fable 4 though, there are a lot of qualities from previous Adventure Games story guide in the series that we hope to see return. Combat has always been one of the most exciting elements, as well as the game’s ability to tell a story that feels as if it is the definition of epic. Where the games tend to go wrong is more in the subtle details, like last year’s ‘Road to Rule’ mechanics — namely the handholding and the third act decision-focused parts of the g
Not entirely encouraging, is it? And yet, that message is the first thing that greets players who boot up the game, every single time they do so (though it can, thankfully, be skipped). Consider it foreshadowing. The Journey is regularly interrupted with control tutorials – almost constantly at first, less frequently as it progres
Marking the series’ first foray into the next generation of games, Timesplitters 4 would be able to capitalize on the current hardware in order to expand on everything that made the earlier games so memorable. The series has always focused on familiar, arcade gameplay and this installment should be no different. With the increased memory of current consoles, this would mean even larger, more diverse worlds to explore, more imaginative characters to interact with and play as, and in keeping with what the series is best known for, an even more frantic multiplayer experie
E3 is always one of the most exciting times of the year for gamers, and E3 2017 should be no exception. Kicking off this Saturday, June 10th with EA’s press conference, the show will run until June 15th, with plenty of high profile games sure to be given the spotlight over the course of the w
While Sony’s focus will be on those four titles, the company is also expected to highlight some other games, with Dreams from Media Molecule confirmed for the show. It’s likely that Sony has some surprises up its sleeve as well, so PlayStation enthusiasts should be sure to tune
We know that a new Smash Bros. is inevitable, but the real question is will it be on the Wii 2 or 3DS, or both? Hopefully this question will be revealed in the coming weeks, but in the meantime hardcore fanboys of the franchise, such as myself have Brawl to keep us entertained while we wait for more new on Smash Bros.
With Nintendo forgoing a traditional press conference yet again, the extent of the Big N’s presence at E3 is a bit of an unknown factor. However, we do know that Nintendo plans on hosting a Nintendo Direct presentation like it did last year, and this time it will be headlined by Super Mario Odyssey , the biggest Nintendo Switch exclusive game on the horizon. What we’ve seen of Super Mario Odyssey so far has been plenty impressive, but along with more gameplay footage, here’s hoping that Nintendo also gives the highly anticipated game a release date come E3 next w
As with the dog from Fable II , The Journey’s designers clearly want players to emotionally invest in Seren. Gabriel can brush her, feed her apples, and occasionally has to tend to her injuries – players mime the motion for pulling arrows from her flesh, then use the magic of the gauntlets to heal the gaping wound left behind. For that matter, Seren is rendered beautifully: shiny coat with distinct hair, attentive, believably alive eyes – but it’s all for nothing. She has no agency, no obvious personality or bearing on events. Seren’s defining characteristic is that she’s a pain in the ass to control, and dramatic story points that hinge on her fall flat as a result. Gabriel may care deeply about Seren, but the player never d
