Thankfully, and I almost can’t believe I’m saying this, Amazon has done a good job balancing the pay-to-win microtransactions. As in, they’re gone. They have adapted the game for a Western audience – several Lost Ark creators, streamers, and other personalities have all commented on their worries about the future of the game with excessive microtransactions. These worries have been addressed. Everything in the game – currently, I can’t see into the future – is optional. You do not need to pay for anything. I know I sound like a shill, but I’m just trying to be upfront about players’ expectations. Don’t spend money if you don’t want to. Lost Ark is not a game you have to rush through, meta-game, or grind ridiculously. Play the game for fun – if you like it, purchase a monthly subscription of the Aura. Pay extra for skins, if you want. That’s it.
As we’ve mentioned before, Stats aren’t 100% crucial to a successful Dungeon clearing build with the Deadeye. Just go for a focus in Specialization to get the most out of your Enhanced Weapon class Engraving, and you’ll be fine. It’s worth making it to the end of the game, currently set at level 50. Lost Ark’s endgame content is fantastic. If the story doesn’t grab you – and it might not – then rest assured that your hours aren’t going to be wasted. The PvE and PvP endgame content is so good, and extremely addictive. Chaos Dungeons, Raids, and PvP Arenas make up the bulk of what you’ll be doing on a daily basis (a lot of this content has daily and weekly resets, which is why people play on alts). Nothing is compulsory, everything you do during your daily time with the game is rewarding and engrossing.
Guardian Raids are unlocked upon reaching level 50 and completing the “Guardian Raid Qualification Certificate” guide quest. You can find the quest in North Vern. If it’s not available to you, be sure you’ve finished the Chaos Dungeon guide quest. To queue for a Guardian Raid, head to the minimap icon that looks like a red banner in any major city.
Unlike most classes in Lost Ark, the Shadowhunter has two radically different endgame builds that are both equally viable. Demon builds focus on transforming as often as possible, utilizing the Demonic Impulse Engraving to remove the 30-second cooldown between each use. The overall rotation basically looks like – Pistol stance, apply debuffs (AT02 Grenade and Spiral Tracker), swap to Shotgun to deal back attack damage, then follow-up with filler Rifle abilities until your cooldowns are refreshed. Rinse and repeat.
Mechanically, Shadowhunters have two forms: human and demon. While in human form, you utilize melee and demonic-themed attacks to harm your foes. Damage done with any ability will build up a Shadowburst meter, demonic-themed abilities granting more energy. When the gauge reaches 100%, you can transform into a demon temporarily, granting an immense boost to your health and movement speed while active. You also swap to a new skill bar, accessing some of the hardest-hitting abilities in Lost Ark. Hunts will vary depending on the Guardian you’re facing, but most hunts consist of finding the boss and defeating the boss. Before you begin, you’ll be given the option to harvest the boss’ soul or not. Doing so will give you much more loot, but you can only do this twice per day (ignoring the catch-up mechanic). In-Anime Game missions, your first task is to find the boss. Finding the boss is significantly easier if you bring flares, a battle item that will reveal the location of the boss on your map for a short time. You can craft them at your stronghold.
