Popular YouTube personality PewDiePie recently found himself embroiled in another wave of controversy after he dropped a racial slur during a livestream of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds , resulting in a considerable amount of backlash. In response to the incident, the YouTuber has released a new video on his chan
Battle Royale first-timers will hopefully enjoy the novelty of the large-scale experience and the intricacies of how encounters can play out differently every single time, and how much there is to explore in the game’s world. But for anyone who appreciates quality shooters or knows the genre well, PUBG on Xbox One is now the clear winner of a few other awards we’re going to make up now: the worst shooter controls on a console, the worst inventory management system on a console, and the worst performing action game on conso
Bluehole seems to have an especially broad demographic in mind with Ascent: Infinite Realm . The trailer practically shouts that there’s something here for everyone: Dragons to hunt, flying aircrafts to pilot (and destroy), properties and communities to build, and more. It’ll be up to Bluehole, though, to ensure that it doesn’t spread itself too thin; that each element is sufficiently fleshed-out to warrant the repeated revisiting that maintains successful online games. Lightning struck once with PUBG — it remains to be seen whether it’ll strike ag
PUBG is not the first game to offer this experience. Its titular “PlayerUnknown” (real name: Brendan Greene) even worked on battle royales previously, helping develop similar modes as a mod for ARMA 2 , for DayZ , and then as a standalone H1Z1 game before becoming creative director at South Korea’s Bluehole Entertainment who made PUBG in less than year – a game that’s gone on to win ‘ Best Multiplayer Game’ of 2017 at The Game Awards. What makes PUBG special is that it offers the best version of this experience, even as an incomplete game in early access on
PewDiePie then apologized for the incident, saying that he is sorry if he had “offended, hurt or disappointed anyone” with his inappropriate language. Wrapping up his video, the YouTuber stated that he really wants to “improve,” not just for himself, but for all those who are influenced by
Performance aside, PUBG is simply a bad “shooter” with an awful control scheme on Xbox. Reloading a weapon for instance in the heat of battle requires players to hold down the ‘X’ button instead of just pressing it quickly. Aiming down sites isn’t holding down the left trigger, it’s tapping it. Inexplicable, holding down the trigger instead just slightly tightens the crosshair (it does the same on PC). Sometimes it won’t even work unless it’s tapped perfectly. Getting in and out of vehicles are two separate buttons and if you want to pick up a specific item from a pile of loot on the ground or move mods from one weapon to another, you better hide yourself for a few minutes. PUBG does not work well on consoles at all in its current state and needs another year in the oven. Even the little things, like basic matchmaking problems with friends or typos in the menus, aren’t addressed. It’s the sloppiest award-winning game, and the poorest performing shooter we’ve seen on current generation conso
Ascent: Infinite Realm will be published by Kakao Games, publisher of Black Desert Online , another MMORPG. Bluehole has yet to announce a release date, but signs point to a closed beta beginning in the first half of 2018. And given PUBG’s extended period of early-access (and how well it has worked out for the game), there’s reason to believe that Bluehole will take its time with formally launching **Ascent: Infinite Realm ** . The game will be shown off at the upcoming G-Star 2017 trade show in Busan, South Korea, which is set to take place from November 16 – 19. Expect more information t
Taking all of this into consideration, it’s great to see Bluehole Studio bringing another feature that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds fans on both PC and Xbox One can enjoy. Without a doubt, the inclusion of the First Person Perspective mode on the console version of the game will help bring more attention to the title overall and potentially pull some Xbox fans away from their time with PUBG competitor Fortni
Titled “My Response,” the short video is devoid of PewDiePie’s trademark shock humor, and directly addresses his use of a racial slur. The YouTuber begins by saying that he always found the use of inappropriate racial slurs by other players “immature and stupid” before conceding that he hates how he “personally fed into that part of gaming as well.” PewDiePie continues by saying that his use of a racial slur had “slipped out” in the heat of the moment and that he’s “disappointed” in himself because this latest incident demonstrates that he has “learned nothing” from all his past controversi
A trailer for the game – seen above – clocks in at over five minutes — and shows off quite a bit. There are indeed airships and dragons, along with jetpack-like boosters, gatling guns, mechs, and estate-building. Recommended Looking at various points throughout the trailer, players can be seen taking control of airships, be it as pilots or turret gunners. The website suggests that PvP airship combat will be a staple of the game, explaining that “Using airships, flying mounts, or free falling, you can experience multi-dimensional battles through warfare in the open s
