Tokyo Game Show 2019 — The Biggest (and Niche) Games You Should Keep an Eye On

Tokyo Game Show 2019 is starting right now at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, going from September 12 to 15. Most publishers revealed their definitive schedules these past few days, outlining the various streams and stage events happen

What we want to see is a combination of the elements that Fable has done well with for the past three iterations with some new concepts that don’t feel tacked on or lacking polish. The idea of becoming king was a fascinating one, but perhaps if it was more action-packed it might have been more success

There’s something odd about an HD port built for a console which itself has games that are being ported to a superior console. Let’s reflect on Fable Anniversary for a second: it’s a 2014 Xbox 360 remake of an Xbox game from 2004. We’re in an age where people are demanding for spectacular looking games like Grand Theft Auto V and The Last of Us to be ported to Xbox One and PS4, and this is an Xbox 360 port of an original Xbox game. As such, judging it is fairly hard to do after spending countless hours over the past few months scrutinizing next-gen ports like Tomb Raider, Madden 25 and Call of Duty: Ghosts, when Fable Anniversary would be a resounding success if it matched the 360 quality of any of them. Still, while a remake of Fable might have been better suited for release before Fable II or as a three-pack with its sequels on Xbox One before Fable IV (please?), the sheer fact that Lionhead and Microsoft care to do it at all is great fan service for players who have had to deal with an antiquated game — classic as it may be.

Since its humble beginnings on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, The Legend of Zelda has grown to become one of the most recognized and highly-acclaimed franchises in all of gaming. Naturally, gamers look forward to each new addition to the series with excitement and anticipat

I really like Death Stranding , but for the opposite reasons of most people. Many despise the traversal mechanics and adore Kojima’s writing. I can barely stand many of Kojima’s cringey scenes, but love the melancholic but tense and engaging delivery mechanics. Death Stranding tends to struggle anytime other than when it does do that. While the writing can be bad and the shooting sucks, I was still totally engrossed by Death Stranding and couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Its “Strand Genre” mechanics are also very innovative, showing how multiplayer elements can be combined with a single-player experience for maximum imp

I was simply addicted to Tetris 99 earlier this year. I played it every day non-stop and had to actively draw myself away from playing it when I had other things to take care of. While battle royale and puzzle games don’t seem like they would mix, boy howdy they certainly do. While Fortnite remains the king and Apex Legends brought a lot of innovation to the genre, Tetris 99 proved that the mechanics of battle royale aren’t limited to just shoot

While the highly anticipated Elden Ring from FromSoftware will be missing the show, there are still plenty of games to look forward to. Here’s a handy list with the biggest games to look forward to, along with events and streams related to t

Details on the game are just rumors at this point, but if Bungie is attached, we want to know about it. The company has already claimed that they won’t be appearing at E3 , but major developers playing dumb in the lead-up to a major announcement is nothing new. Bungie has since teased a major July 7 announcement , and while it’s possible they may be waiting until E3 has come and gone to make any formal announcement, we hope to at least get some idea of what Destiny will be at this year’s ev

On top of all of that, the story mode provides a meaty and varied single-player 2D Mario experience, which is something that the series has needed for years. It is my favorite platformer of 2019, and the first of many indicators on this list that 2019 has been an amazing year for Nintendo Switch. Also, Super Mario Maker 2’s multiplayer is terrible, but I love

The funny thing about Star Wars: Battlefront 3 is that there are so many rumors and speculation over the title, we just want to know if it’s really going to happen or not. The game has changed hands more than a few times, but those close to the production still maintained that Battlefront 3 was definitely in developm

Another big improvement is that of the interfaces. The previous ones were rough even in 2004, seeming basic enough to be more at home with PS1-era games. Thankfully, they’ve been completely overhauled for this release, matching up better with the subsequent Fable adventure games Guide. Navigation-wise, they’re a bit too clumsy. The triggers, shoulders buttons and analog sticks all come into play when scrolling around, resulting in a learning curve that shouldn’t exist for menus. Still, there’s only so much that can be done and at least the old interface wasn’t simply re-skinned.
